‘The true purpose of Education is not to make someone a literate, but to make someone see the light in the darkness’

Gone are the days when Education was all about a white chalk and a blackboard. The purpose of Education today is to make children aware of the choices they have to make. Its purpose is to instill the ability to filter the required information from the already existing excess bundles of content. Its purpose is also to make children aware of their rights and responsibilities towards oneself and the society.

Educators today cannot be content with teaching Chemistry, Economics or Political Science. We should explore innovative ways of highlighting the possibilities in front of the child. We should be less of information providers and more of motivators and facilitators. We should lead the change by becoming agents of change. In this ever changing social – cultural strata, we should be the lamp posts for guiding the children towards enriching the value of life. This is an unenviable responsibility that every educator today faces. We should accept this with open arms and smiling faces.

The current generation of parents do have a tough task at hand. The task of creating a fine balance between an ethical upbringing and giving liberal freedom. They are in fact torn between the demands of ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ of their children. They have a huge responsibility of instilling values and culture that brings an identity to their children.

Lastly, the children of today are a highly confused lot. The primary reason for this confusion is the ‘Information overload’ that they are exposed to. There is plenty of information around, but they are not in a position to selectively utilize the same according to their needs. They are also a distracted lot, due to the emergence of social media into their lives. Teenage years brings with it, its own set of unpredictable behavioral changes. There is a sense of lack of motivation and focus if one observes them closely. All these put together make the two years of PU a really challenging one for not only the children but the parents and teachers as well. It requires a conscious effort on the part of all the stakeholders to bring some semblance into the system.

We at Surana are determined to help the children and parents in their endeavor of achieving excellence. The Team is highly motivated to deliver at all times. Our mission is to create young men and women who can face the challenges of life with a smile on their faces and the confidence to move ahead even in the toughest of times.
